Anitoxidants are supplements
which supply substances that can slow or completely prevent the
oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation is the process that causes free
radicals, which then damage cells. Antioxidants have been reported and
used for a wide variety of health and wellness functions, such as
treating injury to the brain, preventing heart disease, macular
degeneration, diabetes, neurological problems, and possibly even reduce
the risk of cancer, and reduce muscular weakness during exercise.
Antioxidants can not only slow the oxidation process, but can repair
some of the damage done by the free radicals produced. Antioxidants are
so effective at maintaining health and wellbeing that they have even
been referred to as anti-aging products, due to their effect on
creating healthy skin and nails.
